President Cady Short-Thompson shared that Workday is “the
key to building efficiencies across campus.” How will Workday make things better? Here are five ways that the new system will
simplify and expedite HR and FIN tasks for NKU employees.
1. Submit electronic time off requests with access to real-time leave balances
Gone are the days of email threads and paper forms to request time off. In Workday, employees will submit time off requests which automatically route to the correct people for approval. Employees can see the status of their request, are notified when it’s approved and can also view real-time leave balances.
2. Seamlessly recruit, hire and onboard new employees, all in one system
No more bottlenecks from switching back and forth between different systems, PDF packets, and folders. From recruiting to hiring, all steps are seamlessly managed electronically in Workday. User-friendly recruiting dashboards provide insights into job requisitions and applicant status, allowing for a quicker, more efficient hiring process.
3. User friendly, intuitive system with mobile capabilities
Workday's simplified interface is modern, clean and easy to use. With the mobile app, employees can conveniently check their pay, submit time, and view notifications on the go.
4. Easy access to real-time, connected data
Dashboards and reports in Workday display data in real-time, eliminating discrepancies. The capability to click into specific levels of data detail allows employees and leaders flexibility and easy access to information make better informed, data-driven decisions.

Automatic approval routing in Workday includes visibility into who needs to take the next step. Notifications keep the processes moving along with clear tasks for approvers and messages to requestors when the process is complete.
